◆A Message from the Nagasaki Mayor◆

It is my pleasure as a representative of the citizens of Nagasaki to send this message of peace and solidarity.

I would like to express my heartfelt respect and congratulations on the inauguration of the NPO "No More Hibakusha," which is devoted to the dissemination both in Japan and abroad of information on radio-contamination and hibakusha (victims of exposure to radiation).

Atomic bombs devastated two cities on August 6 and 9, 1945. We must take the feelings of the survivors of those calamities deeply to heart and strive relentlessly to bring about the elimination of nuclear weapons.

I sincerely hope that your activities restore the vision of humanity in the 21st century and serve as a driving force for the early realization of a world free from nuclear weapons.
