Nuclear weapon-related facilities are always constructioned in remote regions, in places where minority peoples live. when building the testing grounds at Semiparatinsk,in the Nevada desert, and in the Marshall Island, no consideration at all was given to safety or to environmental contamination.
It seems that the leaders of nuclear weapon states think it natural that there should be victims of nuclear weapon development.
The weapons that they developed to defend their fatherlands ended up, in the process of the development itself, harming the fatherlands and the people living there, leading to many deaths.
Yuri Kuidin, a photographer friend of mine from Kazakhstan, once said to me,"Nuclear tests are nuclear war conducted against one''s own fatherland."
I beleave that by witnessing directly the damage done to the people living around such sites,we can confront with our eyes the terror and inhumanity of nuclear weapons.
