A half century has passed since the first atomic-bomb test in the world and the dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the United States. In this nuclear age,the mining and refinement of uranium continues,and unclear weapons are still being made.Since 1945 more more than 2289 unclear-weapons tests have been conducted. Nuclear power plants generate electric power,but therehave been catastorofic accidents at the power plants on Three Mile Island in United States and at Chernobyl in the former Soviet Union.Nuclear power plants produce enormous amounts of nuclear waste,contaminationg the planet.Since the contamination id often invisible many people are unconcerned about the consequences.
　We must stop the production of radioactive materials and focus on the recovery and safe disposal of all nuclear waste.
